We dined by the river
I passed her a sliver
Of my heart
On a plate silver tray

She graciously took it
But blindly mistook it
For salami
And threw it away

I passed her another
But just like its brother
She ditched it
Despite all my hints

I should mention two fishes
In spite of my wishes
Have followed me round
Ever since
